often need to find a record knowing the value of any of the fields. To perform this operation at our disposal the Find tool in Access 2007.
To use this tool should display the data for example the Datasheet view, then position the cursor in the field where we find and finally click on the Find button on the Home tab:
dialog box appears below the Find and Replace:
Search box : write the value to search.
Table Search: indicate the field where the value to search. By default we take the field where the cursor at the time, if we want to look in any field selected from the list the name of the table.
Table Match: choose among three options:
Match whole field to the desired value exactly matches the value entered in the field.
Any part of field to the desired value is in the field but does not have to exactly match it. Top
the field to the value sought is the initial part of the field. Then we can tell
Search:
All to search all records in the table.
Up to search from the first record to the record that we are located.
Down to search from the register in which we are located and to the last.
If you select the Match case difference when searching case-sensitive.
We click on the Find Next button to start searching and be positioned on the first record that meets the search condition. If we continue the search, click on the Find Next button on to find all the values we seek.
Then close the dialog box.
If we want to substitute a value other use the Replace option.
To use this tool should display the data for example the Datasheet view and then position the cursor in the field where we want to replace and then click the Replace button
frame Search Home tab. Or click on the Search button on the same site and select the Replace tab .
will see the dialog box as follows:
Replace tab has the same options to search and also a box to enter the replacement value Replace box: and a button that Replace replaces the value where we are at that moment, and a button Replace All to replace all values found for the replacement.
This option should be used carefully because sometimes unexpected results may occur especially if we do not use the option Match whole field.
